Product Description
Master Bond MasterSil 151Med Black is a two component, low viscosity silicone compound for bonding, potting and encapsulation. It is an addition cured system and subsequently does not need air for curing. It has a ten to one mix ratio by weight, and does not outgas while curing. MasterSil 151Med Black is noteworthy for its low viscosity and free flowing nature allowing it to fit nicely in potting and encapsulation applications. It cures readily at ambient temperatures with the optimum cure being overnight at room temperature, followed by 1 to 2 hours at 150-200°F to ensure biocompatibility. It is 100% solids, contains no solvents or diluents, and has low shrinkage upon curing.
MasterSil 151Med Black bonds well to a wide variety of substrates including metals, ceramics, composites and plastics. Its most outstanding features are its combination of remarkable flexibility and high temperature resistance, therefore it is able to withstand the most aggressive thermal cycling and shock. It resists gamma radiation, EtO and various chemical sterilants. These properties make it well suited for medical applications involving optical and electronic components. It can also be used for encapsulating electronic circuitry, LEDs, optical fibers and other optical components in a wide array of medical devices. MasterSil 151Med Black is opaque and has a service temperature range of -65°F to +400°F. It fully passes ISO 10993-5 testing for biocompatibility.
